It is located in \/sbin directory. If you are a regular user (non-root), then \/sbin may not be in your path. Therefore, you may have to use the full path to access the chkconfig utility.<\/p>\n<p>To auto start a new service:<\/p>\n<p>Find out the name of service\u2019s script from \/etc\/init.d\/ directory e.g. mysqld or httpd<\/p>\n<p>Add it to chkconfig<\/p>\n<div class=\"codecolorer-container text default\" style=\"overflow:auto;white-space:nowrap;\"><div class=\"text codecolorer\">sudo \/sbin\/chkconfig -\u2013add mysqld<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Make sure it is in the chkconfig.<\/p>\n<div class=\"codecolorer-container text default\" style=\"overflow:auto;white-space:nowrap;\"><div class=\"text codecolorer\">sudo \/sbin\/chkconfig -\u2013list mysqld<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Set it to autostart<\/p>\n<div class=\"codecolorer-container text default\" style=\"overflow:auto;white-space:nowrap;\"><div class=\"text codecolorer\">sudo \/sbin\/chkconfig mysqld on<\/div><\/div>\n<p>To stop a service from auto starting on boot<\/p>\n<div class=\"codecolorer-container text default\" style=\"overflow:auto;white-space:nowrap;\"><div class=\"text codecolorer\">sudo \/sbin\/chkconfig mysqld off<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To auto start services in Centos or Redhat OS, you can use builtin chkconfig utility.
